ACCELMED PRIVACY POLICY

Adopted January 20, 2003

The privacy of the data we collect from our users is important to us. Since ACCELMED may collect information about our users, we feel that we should set forth the conditions and terms surrounding the gathering and use of information when using our sites and services. This Privacy Policy describes what information we gather, how we use it, under what circumstances we disclose it, and how to correct or change it. The pronouns "you" and "your" are used to refer to the end user, while "we," "us" and "our" are used to refer to ACCELMED.

In order to visit the ACCELMED web site, or to use one of ACCELMED's services, you are required to accept the practices described in the ACCELMED Privacy Policy. We may adopt a new policy at any time; if we do so, we will post the new policy on this page so it is available for your review and you can decide whether you choose to accept it in order to continue visiting our site or using our services. Questions regarding our Privacy Policy should be directed to ACCELMED (info@accelmed.org).

1. Collecting Information

The information collected by ACCELMED enables us to better provide content and to respond to our users' needs. It also is used to help our grantors to better understand the demographics of our audience.

ACCELMED may collect information on our users in the following ways:

Registration

All ACCELMED services require user registration. For the registration process, ACCELMED may require some information, like name, location, email address and profession, while other information requested will be voluntary and optional. We do not share personal information collected in the registration process with third parties in a personally identifiable way.

Usage tracking

ACCELMED uses traffic analysis software on our servers to track user traffic patterns throughout our site. We do NOT correlate this data with registration information about specific individual users. ACCELMED does use this data to break down overall usage statistics according to IP address, domain name, browser type, and MIME type by reading this information from the data automatically sent by the browser whenever a web page is requested.

Disclosure

Both usage tracking data and aggregated registration data may be shared with our sponsors.

2. "No-spam" policy

We will not sell to a third party the email address you register on our site. You may receive on occasion an offer from ACCELMED to receive information about other ACCELMED services, but you will not receive additional newsletters or discussion list mailings unless you specifically have requested them or have otherwise opted in for third-party announcements (see Opt-in Announcement List below).

3. Delete/deactivate policy

If you no longer wish to use any ACCELMED services or receive any information from ACCELMED, you may request to have your personal information removed from ACCELMED's databases by sending a request via email (info@accelmed.org), including your first and last names and email address with which you originally registered. Changes or corrections to your information may be submitted in the same fashion. We may ask you to verify that you are the one making the request.

4. Opt-in Announcement List

When you register for ACCELMED services you may be given the option of joining an opt-in list. If you choose to sign up, you may receive information or participate in campaigns relevant to the specialty you selected from select third parties who have entered into agreements with ACCELMED. ACCELMED is not responsible for the content of emails you may receive when you have elected to opt-in to a particular specialty. You may have your email address removed from the ACCELMED opt-in announcement lists at any time by deselecting the opt-in list option.
