Performance Gaps

ACCELMED employs a backward planning approach to determine current and desired results in patient outcomes and current and best practices (as defined by evidence-based performance measures) in clinical care. We seek to establish practice gaps through expert, participant, and observed sources, such as participant surveys, focus group interviews, outcomes analyses from previous activities, faculty advisors, national clinical guidelines, epidemiological data, and morbidity/mortality data, among others.

Once we have determined the desired results and the performance gaps, we create learning objectives that connect what clinicians must know or be capable of to fulfill the identified performance gaps and the desired results patient outcomes. The objectives are actionable, measurable, and focus on higher level cognitive, affective, and psychomotor outcomes.
